July 2/2011 New Blog, New Life
I am starting over at midlife. I have given up a long career and going to go back to school for what interests me now...actually, I think it was my calling years ago and I went in different directions. I have always loved nature. There is a picture of me as a little girl holding a little frog. I was always in the woods growing up. I loved blueberry picking and one time I looked up and was surrounded by a family of magpies. I remember staying there a long time listening to them chatter and talk and feeling really blessed to have been a part of that. I love birds. Yesterday, I took a ferry to Saltspring Island and went exploring in the woods. I came upon a family of white-crowned sparrows. I think they must have been just new fledglings as they were very small. I tried out my new binoculars and was very happy with them. A pair of fox sparrows checked me out for a long time, that was nice. I also saw a pair of McGillivray's Warblers, the male just flew about, really busy little fellow!
